The contemporary glass-and-concrete lodges hold a large art collection, and game drives use one of Africa's first all-electric, near-silent 4x4 fleets.

Best for

Families and groups of friends who want a whole lodge to themselves for Big Five game viewing, with their own guiding team and no set schedule. The Sabi Sand's open boundary with Kruger and its traversing rights make for reliable leopard sightings.

Consider if

Each villa is sold for sole use of all four suites, so it is priced for a group and expensive for a couple travelling alone. The architecture is sharp and modern rather than classic safari, and while the traversing area is excellent you may still share a sighting with vehicles from neighbouring lodges.

Why it's Tranquil

Because you book the whole villa, the pool deck, the boma and the vehicle are used only by your own party, and the nearest other guests are out of sight and earshot across the reserve. The electric Land Cruisers move through the bush without engine noise, so drives are quieter than usual and the animals stay relaxed. Back at the villa the design is calm and low-key, with long glass walls onto a waterhole and staff who keep out of the way, and the day runs on drives, the pool and the light rather than a timetable.
