Acceptance

By using The Tranquil Traveller (the “site”) you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

What the site is

The Tranquil Traveller is an independent editorial publication. It describes and ranks hotels for how restful we judge them to be, based on our own research and, where noted, firsthand stays. Everything on the site is opinion and general information. It is not travel, financial, health or legal advice, and it is not a reservation service.

Bookings are with third parties

We do not sell rooms or take reservations. “Check availability” and similar links send you to a hotel’s own website or another third-party service. Any booking, payment, cancellation or dispute is strictly between you and that provider, on their terms. We are not responsible for their prices, availability, content or conduct.

Accuracy

Hotels change. Rooms are refurbished, spas close, owners and standards change, and details such as room counts or facilities may be out of date by the time you read them. We work to keep entries accurate but we do not warrant that any information is complete, current or error-free. Confirm anything that matters to you directly with the hotel before you travel.

Editorial independence

Hotels cannot pay to be included, to be ranked higher, or to change what we write. If a page ever contains an affiliate link that could earn us a commission at no extra cost to you, or any other paid arrangement, it will be disclosed clearly on that page.

Intellectual property

The text, rankings, selection, layout and design of the site belong to The Tranquil Traveller or its licensors. Photographs are used with permission or under licence and remain the property of their owners. You may read and share links to the site, and quote short extracts with attribution. You may not copy, republish, sell or systematically reproduce substantial parts of the site, or use its content to train machine-learning models, without our written permission.

Acceptable use

• Do not scrape, crawl or harvest the site at scale or in a way that burdens it.
• Do not attempt to disrupt, probe or gain unauthorised access to the site or its systems.
• Do not use the site for anything unlawful or in breach of these terms.

Disclaimers

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, secure or free of errors.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Tranquil Traveller is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from your reliance on the site, your dealings with any hotel or third party, or any unavailability of the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Changes

We may change the site or these terms at any time. The date at the top shows when the terms last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts located in Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
