The Tranquil Summary
The first Hoshinoya resort outside Japan, opened in 2017 in eastern Ubud, built into a river valley that falls 170 metres to the Pakerisan. Thirty villas form a small village around three seventy-metre bathing pools laid out like irrigation canals, on a site threaded by Bali's UNESCO-listed subak channels.

Why it's Tranquil
Built into a river gorge in eastern Ubud that drops 170 metres, with the valley in view from the villas. Thirty villas only, arranged as a village around three seventy-metre pools that double as canals. Boardwalks follow an old subak irrigation channel, part of a UNESCO-listed system, past gazebos cantilevered over the valley. Japanese lines and Balinese materials throughout, with a spa and a deliberately unhurried daily rhythm.
