The Tranquil Summary
A glass-and-steel lodge of 24 rooms suspended in the Ecuadorian Choco cloud forest, at the heart of a private reserve of around 3,000 acres, three and a half hours from Quito.
Best for
Travellers who want rainforest immersion and biodiversity without giving up design, comfort or a spa.
Consider if
Consider if you dislike humidity or steep trails; this is genuine cloud forest, often wet, and the walking can be sharp underfoot.
Why it's Tranquil
Floor-to-ceiling glass in every room puts the forest right against the bed. A private reserve of about 3,000 acres, most of it primary forest, home to pumas, monkeys and around 400 bird species. A spa using local ingredients, plus a sky bike and gondola for unhurried time in the canopy. All-inclusive and self-contained, so once you arrive there is nowhere you need to be.
