Tranquility Index

83 / 100

The Tranquility Index evaluates a hotel’s setting, seclusion and restorative offering based on our research. Firsthand stays may add additional verified insights.

The Tranquil Summary

A solar-powered safari camp of sixteen tents tucked into the dunes of Cape Range National Park, a short walk from the fringing coral of Ningaloo Reef. There is no mains power, air conditioning, television or mobile signal, and all meals and twice-daily guided activities are included.

Best for

Travellers who want the reef within wading distance and are glad, not sorry, to lose phone reception for a few days.

Consider if

Tents are cooled by sea breeze rather than air conditioning, bathrooms have composting toilets, and there is no mobile coverage. Transfers run about an hour from Exmouth or Learmonth Airport.

Why it's Tranquil

Sixteen canvas tents on raised platforms in the dunes, the only accommodation inside Cape Range National Park. Ningaloo's coral starts around 50 metres from the tents; snorkelling gear and kayaks are on hand. Off-grid by design: solar power, no air conditioning, no television, no phone signal. All meals, the bar and two guided walks or snorkels a day are included, so the day has a gentle shape without a schedule.
