The Tranquil Summary
Forty treehouse-style suites raised into the canopy above the Mossman River, on the southern edge of the Daintree, about 20 minutes from Port Douglas. Rebuilt by Baillie Lodges and reopened in December 2021, with a spa built around the river's swimming holes.
Best for
Rainforest immersion with design and a serious spa, and easy reach of both the Daintree and the reef.
Consider if
The tropical north is humid and wet for much of the summer. This is a lightly structured lodge rather than all-inclusive, so meals and tours are added to the rate.
Why it's Tranquil
Forty timber suites on elevated walkways, most with a river or rainforest outlook and a hammock on the balcony. Set on 32 hectares of rainforest above the Mossman River, next to Mossman Gorge. Healing Waters Spa has six treatment rooms over the water, and the river's swimming holes are open to guests. The open-sided Treehouse Restaurant sits in the canopy, so meals come with birdsong rather than a soundtrack.
